A breakdown of our shipping costs

Look familiar? This is the shipping box we use to ship up to 4 Shadow Magnets. We go through a lot of these boxes.

I always appreciate makers when they share transparency posts explaining how much it costs to do what they do. A recent Facebook commenter lamenting our high shipping price reminded me about how I’ve always wanted to put together a breakdown of our shipping costs, so that’s what we’re doing here.

Let’s say we want to ship a Shadow Magnets Bundle to a location in the US:

  • USPS Shipping: $4.85-5.52 (depending on the shipping distance)

  • Shipping box: $0.74

TOTAL COST: $5.59 to $6.26 (Not included: label cost and the labor involved to package the order)

The US Postal Service also sometimes raises rates mid-year or during the holiday season, so having a little buffer helps us maintain predictable shipping & handling prices throughout the year. For 2026, we’ve increased our S&H rates by $0.50 to account for the USPS rate change and upped. We’ve also upped free shipping minimum to $55 (enter promo code FREESHIP55 at checkout).

As a consumer, I fully relate to the dislike of having to pay for shipping. The best way to avoid these high shipping costs is to find our products at a local seller. Not sure where they are? Ask us! And let us know if you know of a particular store that could be a good fit for us. Museum stores and mom & pop shops are our favorites!
